  • Chevening Scholarships enable outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK.  

    These scholarships are fully-funded (flights, accommodation, and course fees are all included).  

The Beacon Scholarship

The Beacon Scholarship

  • The Beacon Equity Trust is an educational charity, founded in 2009, whose principal activity is to support the operation of Beacon Changemakers. It is privately funded and presently operates in the UK and East Africa.  

    Beacon Changemakers supports a diverse group of talented and motivated young people who are committed to making a positive impact.  

    This scholarship is open to candidates aged 18-21 years old looking to start undergraduate studies who are nationals of and ordinarily resident in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia or South Africa. Candidates must first be nominated by their current school head.  

Karimjee Conservation Scholarships

Karimjee Conservation Scholarships

  • The Karimjee Foundation offers two Karimjee Conservation Scholarships each year for Tanzanian nationals.  

    This scholarship is for students applying to the MSc in Conservation Management of African Ecosystems.  

    Tanzanian students supported through Karimjee Conservation Scholarships will undertake a second year of field-based training in Tanzania.  

    The scholarship covers all fees and a living allowance (stipend) for studies while in Glasgow and for the additional year in Tanzania, including funds for an extended research project.  

     

Commonwealth Scholarships

Commonwealth Scholarships

  • Commonwealth Scholarships are awarded to talented individuals with the potential to make a positive impact on the global stage.

    As part of the UK’s ongoing commitment to the Commonwealth, each year around 700 students are given the chance to undertake postgraduate degrees with UK universities.
     

Nyerere Scholarship

Nyerere Scholarship
  • University of Edinburgh
  • 1 year
  • The Nyerere Scholarship provides funding for a talented Tanzanian graduate to receive funding for a one-year postgraduate scholarship in the multidisciplinary MSc in Africa and International Development programme.

    Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens domiciled in Tanzania, who have graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e. 2022-2024) or will be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025.

 
 

Trips and Volunteering

University students from the UK can visit Tanzania for trips tailored to their degree, and similarly university students from Tanzania can visit the UK. 

Examples:

Rural economy
Economics and business students can gain a comprehensive understanding of the economy of Tanzania through visiting a range of businesses from small scale to large scale, as well as learning about rural economies and women-led work.

Marine Conservation
Degrees related to wildlife and marine can find a range of trips to enhance their degree programs, such as visiting conservation projects in Tanzania and Zanzibar. 

 

Trip itineraries can be tailored based on preferences and requirements.
